The Defence Forces can confirm the details of the repatriation of Private Seán Rooney from Lebanon to Ireland.
Private Seán Rooney's remains will be brought home on Sunday 18 December by the Irish Air Corps CASA aircraft, departing Beirut at 1600 hrs (local Beirut time).

There will be a solemn UN ceremony held to honour Pte Rooney in Beirut Airport prior to his departure, following which he will be brought to Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel where his remains will be reunited with his family on Monday morning, 19th December.

After Pte Rooney's remains land in Baldonnel, there will be a requirement for an autopsy by the State pathologist prior to the remains being released to the family.
