Military Air Traffic Controllers are responsible for the management and coordination of access to airspace for training, Maritime Defence and Security Operations (MDSO), Garda Air Support, Army Support, Air Ambulance and Aid to the Civil Power missions. Air Traffic Controllers also manage military airspace as a component of the wider European Military Airspace. ATC staff also fulfil many other roles and functions for the Air Corps including ATC training, safety management, aerodrome management, airspace management, flight procedure design and the planning and control of aviation events.
