Director of Military Prosecutions in the Permanent Defence Forces
Applications are invited for the position of Director of Military Prosecutions in the Defence Forces. The primary function of the Director of Military Prosecutions is to direct and supervise military prosecutions.
The Director of Military Prosecutions is an officer of the Permanent Defence Force and shall not be below the army rank of Colonel or equivalent naval rank.
The successful candidate, if not already a serving Permanent Defence Force officer, will be nominated to be appointed a commissioned officer of the Permanent Defence Force in the rank of Colonel.
The ideal candidate for the position will have:
- A minimum of 10 years of practice in the role of barrister or solicitor.
- An understanding and knowledge of the work of the Defence Forces, or capacity to quickly acquire such understanding.
- Demonstrated a degree of competence and probity appropriate to the appointment concerned.

JOB LOCATION: The Office of the Director of Military Prosecutions will be located at McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7.
It is intended that interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held in November.
