Defend Our State, Transform Our Forces, Value Our People.
Message from The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Séan Clancy.
During our recent Defence Forces’ Board meeting, we received a briefing on our Vision 2030. This new Vision provides us all with a clear picture or End State, as to how the Defence Forces will look following the implementation of the CoDF recommendations and the realisation of Level of Ambition 2+.
The Vision statement reads: Óglaigh Na hÉireann will be a joint, agile and fit-for-purpose military force, postured to Defend our sovereignty, protect Irish citizens, and secure Ireland’s interests.
This will be achieved by: Transforming our culture, modernising our force to have the capability to deter threats across multi-domain operational environments; Valuing and respecting our people’s dignity, empowering them to ‘Be More’, and delivering exciting and fulfilling careers for all who serve.
Realising our Vision will allow us to: Defend Our State, Transform Our Forces, Value Our People.
We have made excellent progress with 21 out of the CoDF recommendations already completed. Over the coming weeks, we will post a series of CONNECT updates outlining the progress made and the road ahead.
The reason for our organisation’s success has always been you our people and this journey will be no different. In order for us to achieve the Vision each one of us must embrace, shape and lead the change. It will be challenging, however, it provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver a Defence Forces equipped to address and deter threats, while attending to our career and life balance expectations.
