A new accommodation block in Collins Barracks Cork will be opened on Monday the 15th Apr 2024 at 1130hrs. It will be opened by An Tánaiste and Minister for Defence, Mr Micheál Martin TD accompanied by The Deputy Chief of Staff Support of the Defence Forces, Major General Adrian Ó Murchú. This new facility is designed to accommodate troops undertaking training as well as single living in personnel. It can accommodate up to 41 personnel. The rooms are organised into four-person dorms and single en suite rooms. These are spread over three floors and six separate wings. The cost of the project was €4.5million and is the first of a number of infrastructural projects to be opened this year across the Defence Forces.

- Arrival of the An Tánaiste – 1125hrs.
- Honour Guard to present military honours to An Tánaiste on arrival – 1130hrs
- Move to New Accommodation block – 1135hrs
- Address from Officer Commanding Collins Barracks Lieutenant Colonel Peadar Ó Catháin – 1140hrs.
- Address from An Tánaiste to deliver an address, before officially opening the new accommodation block – 1145hrs
- An Tánaiste officially opens the new accommodation block - 1155hrs
- Conclusion of ceremony – 1200hrs.
- Media Doorstep with An Tánaiste outside the new accommodation block – 1205hrs
