The Irish Air Corps is proud to announce the first-ever Aviation Convention (AvCon), is set to take place at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel on 07 Nov 2024. This ground breaking event will welcome over 6,000 students from across Ireland, offering them an exclusive, hands-on opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of aviation.
The AvCon is designed to inspire and educate young people, providing them with insight into the exciting possibilities within the Irish Air Corps and the wider Irish aviation industry. Students will experience a wide range of activities and presentations, including aircraft displays, flight demonstrations, and interactive exhibits that highlight cutting-edge technology and innovation in aviation. They will also have the opportunity to meet and engage with pilots, engineers, and industry experts, gaining first-hand knowledge of what it takes to build a career in aviation.
The event is part of the Irish Air Corps' ongoing commitment to fostering a deeper connection between the public and the aviation sector, as well as highlighting the role of the Air Corps in protecting and serving the nation. With this convention, the Air Corps aims to not only spark curiosity and enthusiasm but also present itself as a viable and rewarding career option for Ireland's next generation.

The convention will feature several seminars and discussion groups, including drone operations, flight simulation training, and aircraft maintenance, ensuring that students experience both the theoretical and practical sides of aviation. Additionally, there will be special presentations on the future of aviation, the role of women in aviation, and the growing importance of sustainability in air travel.
For the Irish Air Corps, this event is a major milestone as it opens the doors of Baldonnel to a new generation of aviation enthusiasts, offering a rare glimpse into military and civilian aviation operations. As Ireland's only military aviation unit, the Air Corps has a long history of service and innovation, and this convention will highlight both its proud heritage and exciting future.
