Irish Troops Return to Ireland Following the Final Six-Month Deployment to Syria

Over 120 Irish troops from the 68th Infantry Group, United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) will return to Dublin Airport on Friday 05 Apr 2024

Landing at approx. 2.00pm, following a six-month deployment to Syria. This is the last time that Defence Forces personnel will deploy as part of this mission following ten years of peacekeeping service in the area.

 

The personnel will be met by their families and friends. Drawn from many different Units across the Army and Air Corps, the majority of the 68th Infantry Group personnel are drawn from the 6th Infantry Battalion based in Custume Barracks, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

 

There will be excellent photo and interview opportunities at Dublin Airport with the returning troops reuniting with their families.
