Defence Forces Open Day 2023

This morning (Saturday 29 July), An Tánaiste and Minister for Defence, Mr Micheál Martin T.D. and the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Seán Clancy visited the Defence Forces Open Day in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin, where they met with members of the Defence Forces and the public and viewed displays showcasing the capabilities that all three services (Army, Naval Service, Air Corps) of the Defence Forces have to offer.

Highlights of the day included: weapons displays, unarmed combat demonstrations, musical recitals by the Army Band, equitation school riders, recruitment stand, adventure training stand, Special Forces fast roping into the event from an Air Corps helicopter, SERE (Survival, Escape & Evasion, Resistance to Interrogation, Extraction) display, medical corps and military police interactive stands, vehicle displays including vintage vehicles, cavalry and military motorbikes, MOWAGs (Armoured Personnel Carrier), an AW139 Air Corps Helicopter and Naval Service RHIBs, a children's army assault course and capability demonstrations from the three services – Army, Naval Service and Air Corps.

This open day was a free event for all members of the public to attend.

 It was a great opportunity for the public to interact and talk with our fantastic Defence Forces personnel, see our equipment up close and learn more about the work we do in the Irish Defence Forces!!!
