Army Bomb Disposal Team Remove Improvised Explosive Device In Santry, Dublin 9
Earlier today, following a request from An Garda Síochána, an Army Bomb Disposal Team was tasked to investigate a suspect device in Santry, Dublin 9. The team arrived on scene at 10.10am.
On arrival a cordon was established and nearby buildings evacuated for the duration of the operation. One improvised explosive device (IED) was identified, made safe and was removed for further examination. The team departed the scene at 12.10pm.
Should members of the public encounter suspicious items, or hazardous substances, they are advised to maintain a safe distance and inform An Garda Síochána.
The Defence Forces Bomb Disposal Teams deal with other types of callouts that would include the destruction of traditional munitions, such as old grenades found by members of the public, unstable chemicals, and suspected devices that are found to be hoaxes.
