Thursday, 05th April 2018, 2.15pm - Army Bomb Disposal Team Make Safe And Remove a Historic Artillery Shell from Echlin Street, Co. Dublin
Earlier today, following a request from An Garda Síochána, an Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe and removed a historic artillery shell from a building site in Echlin Street.
The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived on scene at 11.10am. To ensure public safety the site was evacuated and a cordon was put in place for the duration of the operation. The scene was declared safe at 12pm.
The historic device has now been removed to a secure military installation for further examination.
Should members of the public encounter such munitions they are advised to maintain a safe distance and inform An Garda Síochána.
The Defense Forces Bomb Disposal Teams deal with other types of callouts that would include the destruction of a traditional munitions, such as old grenades found by members of the public, unstable chemicals and suspected devices that are found to be hoaxes.
