Reserve Defence Forces

The restructured Reserve Defence Force RDF (na hÓglaigh Cúltaca) was established in October 2005 to replace An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil and An Slua Muirí and has more recently undergone a reorganisation in tandem with the Permanent Defence Force as part of the “Single Force” concept.

Army Reserve

From 2013 the RDF was reorganised into subunits of the Permanent Defence Forces as part of the 'Single Force Concept'

Naval Service Reserve

The NSR augments the crews of Naval Service vessels during Operational patrols of Ireland EEZ. The NSR conducts its own stand-alone operations within their respective ports.
